Support Our Work

All tour events are free to the general public. We welcome your much-needed donations to sustain, support, and raise awareness about Anar’s crucial community-based psychosocial support programs and arts-based healing work with Palestinian children and caregivers facing violence and oppression in the West Bank.

Background

Our aim is that this tour will provide many meaningful, in-depth opportunities for those in the U.S. to learn more about Anar and Healing to Hope and support our commitment to justice, hope, and healing for Palestinian children, caregivers, and communities.

Anar for Empowerment & Psychosocial Support is a nonprofit based in Bethlehem and operating in the West Bank that aims to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma and provide healing for Palestinian children and caregivers experiencing ongoing Israeli occupation, violence, and ethnic cleansing. Anar's innovative approaches include community-based psychosocial support hubs, a youth mentorship program, and arts-based healing workshops with children. Given the grave need for psychosocial support for displaced Palestinian families, Anar has recently expanded to serve more and more communities throughout the West Bank, with a new office in Hebron in the south and additional staff in Nablus and Tulkarem in the north.

Anar was founded in the summer of 2023 by Executive Director Rami Khader, a Palestinian humanitarian, artist, and social worker from Bethlehem with expertise in humanitarian response, psychosocial support, arts-based healing, MHPSS capacity-building, and grassroots community empowerment. Prior to founding Anar, Rami served as a lecturer at Bethlehem University, where he taught psychology and social work; as founder and director of Diyar Theatre; and as the Director of East Jerusalem YMCA's Rehabilitation Program, where he led a team of 70 staff members, trainers, counselors, and coordinators in delivering lifesaving psychosocial support. At Anar, Rami is joined by a gifted and experienced staff of counselors who work with children, caregivers, and communities throughout the West Bank to provide healing for those who need it most.

To raise awareness about and support Anar’s work, Healing to Hope, a U.S.-based, volunteer-driven charitable organization, was founded in the summer of 2024. Rami himself serves on the Healing to Hope board of directors, alongside a committed group of volunteers with backgrounds in education, nursing, social work, pastoral leadership, and the arts. Healing to Hope has also just launched its Local Impact Leader initiative designed to support organizers and activists dedicated to raising awareness about Anar in their own communities.
